Frequently Asked Questions

Why have I never heard of you?

Several possibilities. While we’re very good at promoting our clients, we’re lousy at promoting ourselves. It took me forever to get this web site up, for instance. We have chosen to remain a small service, which means that we work only with a small group of clients at any one time, and there are times when we cannot take on new clients. Or could it be you just haven’t been looking in the right places?

What is the “company” part of Wilhide & Company?
We often put together a “virtual agency” to get things done cost-effectively for clients. We work with design firms, in-house groups, production companies, photographers, printers, etc -- whatever the project or campaign calls for.

How much do you charge?
We say we charge about half what “traditional” agencies charge -- and we verify that regularly. Our fees are based on the work that needs to be done. If you have a project in mind, let’s talk -- or send me some idea of what the project entails and I’ll provide an estimate and sample costs from similar recent projects. NOTE: fees sometimes vary with workload. If you have a budget we can usually work within it.

What do you teach?
I teach a graduate level course called “Creative Strategy in Advertising” in the graduate business school at the University of St. Thomas. See the “St. Thomas class” section of this web site for more info. I’ve also taught copywriting and marketing communications at the University of Minnesota, writing, rhetoric and literature at the University of Iowa, and I write articles and give talks on advertising and education... when the spirit moves and the invitation is offered..
